Couple Shoot | Chantelle & Chris
Chris contacted me for a surprise photoshoot with his wife, Chantelle for their ten-year anniversary.
Being a wedding photographer himself, Chris told me the story of how they hadn’t hired a professional photographer back in the day, as one of his mates was a photographer and wedding guest at the same time. The offer of capturing their big day sounded great in theory but turned out to not work out too well once the drinks were served and the party was in full swing.
So Chris wanted this shoot to be the portrait session they had missed out on in the day and asked me to create images that would be an homage to their ever-growing love of the last decade together.
As location, we had chosen Box Head in Bouddi National Park. The session started in the most glorious sunshine, during a balmy spring evening. But literally five minutes into the shoot the weather turned, the skies darkened and the wind picked up to hurricane level. For a moment we were wondering what to do, but the rain held off and the wind turned out to add the right amount of drama to our photos. It was incredible; we embraced the weather and continued on. Turns out no planning could have ever achieved the same fun-filled, dramatic images that we managed to create with the wind as our art director.
Happy Anniversary, Chris and Chantelle – let’s do it all again in 10!
